Secure Verifications & Secure Messages with ITControlPanel
During this session we explored how the ITControlPanel Engineer App helps engineers and IT teams securely verify users and exchange sensitive information through authenticated devices, avoiding the risks and inconvenience of traditional channels such as email or phone verification.
Session Overview
In this week's Invarosoft Thursday session we demonstrated two powerful features of the ITControlPanel Engineer App:
- Secure Verifications – Quickly verify user identity or request simple responses.
- Secure Messages – Send sensitive information securely to authenticated devices.
These tools allow engineers to keep service moving without unnecessary delays while ensuring that identity verification and sensitive communication remain secure.
Secure Verifications
Secure Verifications allow engineers to send verification prompts directly to a user's registered device. This is especially useful when you need quick confirmation or identity verification without engaging in a full support conversation.
Think of Secure Verification as a fast-track security checkpoint that replaces slow manual verification processes.
Common Use Cases
- Confirm the engineer is speaking to the correct user during a phone call
- Request quick approval before performing remote support
- Verify identity before resetting credentials
- Confirm authorization before making configuration changes
Verification Types
- Code Read-Aloud – The user reads a verification code shown on their device.
- Code Entry – The user enters a code provided by the engineer.
- Yes / No Questions – Quick confirmation requests.
- Approve / Decline – Immediate authorization for urgent actions.
For additional documentation and auditing, engineers can capture a screenshot of the verification result and attach it to the service ticket for identity confirmation records.
Secure Messages
Secure Messages allow engineers to safely transmit sensitive information to users without exposing data through email or phone conversations.
Messages are delivered directly to the user’s registered device where the user must authenticate before accessing the content. Communication is end-to-end encrypted.
Instead of spelling complex passwords over the phone, engineers can simply send a secure message and provide a temporary access code to retrieve it.
How Secure Messages Work
- The engineer sends a secure message through ITControlPanel.
- The user receives a notification on their registered device.
- The user enters a short access code.
- The message becomes visible for a limited time.
- After the configured timeout, the message disappears automatically.
This temporary visibility ensures that sensitive information is not stored or exposed longer than necessary.
Live Demo Highlights
- Engineers can trigger Secure Verifications directly from the ITControlPanel application.
- Verifications and secure messages can also be initiated from the device management view in the portal.
- Users see verification prompts in the center of their screen with the organization's branding.
- Verification results are instantly visible to the engineer.
- Secure messages automatically disappear after the configured display timeout.
Coming Soon: Web-Based ITControlPanel
During the session we also previewed an upcoming improvement to ITControlPanel.
A web-based version of ITControlPanel is planned for release in the second half of the year. This will allow engineers to access the tool directly from a browser without installing the desktop MSI or EXE application.
Key Benefits for IT Teams
| Improved Security | Protect sensitive information and reduce social engineering risks. |
| Faster Support | Verify users and obtain approvals instantly. |
| Better User Experience | Simpler interactions with fewer calls and emails. |
| Modern IT Operations | Give engineers a secure and streamlined workflow for everyday support tasks. |
Engineer Access & Training
- Engineer logins can be created under My Account → Portal Logins.
- Most subscriptions allow multiple engineer accounts associated with your license count.
- The ITControlPanel installer (MSI and EXE) can be downloaded directly from the portal.
- An explainer video is available to help engineers learn how to use the platform.
